La Sagrada de Cuba2014
- Directed by: Elke Lehrenkrauss
About the project
“The cow is the symbol of our country”, says cowboy Luis. If you slay a cow in Cuba you can get up to 30 years of jail time. An outdated law from the beginnings of Castro’s revolution is to be blamed for that.
“La sagrada de Cuba” is a portrait of a country stuck in its development. Through a collection of cowboy and shepherd stories it explores the importance of the cow for this island, away from the revolution. It tells about cow-mafias and black market meat, thieves and lovers, meat loving tourists and sleepless cowboys between hope and despair.
